So I enabled 2 factor authentication - now my question is the following. We have multiple family members with the app but the 2 factor authentication only goes to one number.

- KHi. I appreciate your taking the time to write, Chelsea. But I think we all are still confused about how two factor authorization and shared users intersect, and when. If the primary user is NOT logged into Ring (either via phone or PC) can a shared user access either/both the live views and talk with someone? At what point would the shared user need the account logged in with two-factor authorization to do something? Maybe a better way to ask is: 1) what can be done without logging in? 2) What can only be done after logging in with 2-factor? And by whom: shared user vs. owner. Does this help break down the question? Thank you.•

MHi, Agree with above posters. The way you have it set up is useless for more than 1 person on the account. Making it even more useless for me is I have 2 Ring accounts (hubby and I each a shared user on the other) because you will not allow more than one location per account. One is for a vacation rental. If I am the only one who gets the 2 factor text, my husband is locked out if something needs to be addressed. Not everyone can respond immediately to a text to verify the account. Ring needs to allow more numbers on the two factor authentication.•1

J\>\> [MudEJeep](https://community.ring.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/16758) posted: Ring needs to allow more numbers on the two factor authentication. Yes they do. What if the (only) phone number for 2FA is lost or stolen and you need to log into Ring on a different phone? You need to be able to enable 2FA from more than one device (just as Apple allows on 2FA on an Apple ID) - to get in and remove the lost or stolen phone number.•0

PAdding to the points already mentioned in this post. Completely agree Ring needs to expand support for two factor authentication to include multiple phone numbers. Even starting with accepting two numbers would likely address most concerns as you tend to have two heads of the household, though my wife may disagree on that point (kidding!). Ring support, if there is anything we can do to help get this feature added to the development backlog, please let us know. It would be a useful feature that maintains multi-factor authentication safety while providing enough flexibility for most users. Thanks!•0

NNot having the ability to disable the 2 factor is a real nuisance. I routinely access the dashboard from multiple locations/devices withing my home (upstairs and/or downstairs and the browser on my desktop is flushed after each use which triggers your 2 factor authentication to activate when accessing the next time, which sends a message to my phone, which is in another room or on a different floor. I don't always carry my cell phone with me throughout my home. It's becoming enough of an issue for me to give serious consideration to dropping the RING services all together and selecting another vendor. Other methods could have been implemented and not resulted in being such a nuisance to the subscriber. It should be MY decision to opt-in to 2 factor should I want too. This was a very, very poor design decision on Ring's part.•0
