Ring no longer working

An upgrade arbitrarily added without my permission has caused my ring to no longer work. I’ve spent the past 2 hours attempting to get it back online and nothing works. Does ring do this to cause a malfunction and a beef tp purchase new equipment? If so, I’m going to purchase from a different supplier after many years
