My Ring Doorbell Not Sending Motion Alerts Since Last App Update
Hi Neighbors / Ring Community,
I’m reaching out because I’m experiencing an issue with my Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) after installing the latest Ring app update (version X.Y.Z). Here’s a summary of the problem:
Motion detection is on in my device settings.
I have set up motion zones correctly.
However, I haven’t received any motion alerts on my phone for the past two days.
My doorbell still streams live video, but motion-triggered notifications don’t work.
I have already rebooted the doorbell and my Wi-Fi router.
My Wi-Fi signal strength at the doorbell is good (–60 dBm) and stable.
What I’ve tried so far:
Disabled and re-enabled motion detection.
Reinstalled the Ring app.
Reset the doorbell (but didn’t factory-reset).
Checked for any other firmware or app updates.
Questions / Help Needed:
Has anyone else faced a similar issue after the recent update?
Is this a known bug in the current app version?
Are there other troubleshooting steps I should try before contacting Ring Support?
Should I report this as a bug?

Hi @kkshah. What type of phone do you have and what version of the Ring app is installed? Have you disabled Motion Alerts, then enabled it? Do you have a VPN active on your phone? Also, check to see if you have Modes enabled. This Help Center article here has some great information too.
