My Dad Died and Transferring Equipment has been a Nightmare
So it’s pretty awful when a parent dies, especially when it’s completely unexpected and you can’t prepare. Beyond grieving there is a LOT of legal stuff to wade through. I’ve had to send death certificates to get into accounts, which was always a process, but I never had any real trouble EXCEPT WITH RING. Ring is the only company that absolutely failed their process, leaving me high and dry and customer service being a total failure.
I went through the process of sending my dad’s death certificate and the MAC addresses of all his devices. I asked why I couldn’t just get access to his account since his death certificate gave me access to bank accounts and even more sensitive information, which was answered with “that doesn’t matter, you will have the devices”. The device transfer was supposed to happen after 48 hours. Never happened. Contacted support again. Was met with “sorry for the delay, we will expedite your request.” A week later, still nothing. Called back and this time was told “you have a case manager, they will contact you soon”. Never contacted me.
Absolutely unacceptable service during one of the worst times. Probate has been a more pleasant experience than dealing with ring, and probate is awful. Between our own personal devices and my dads, we have a lot of equipment with Ring, it would be a huge expense to change to a different system, but after this experience it may be worth it.

Hi - I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. I'm in the same boat. My dad died in November and all I want to do is change the Ring account details, particularly now that we are close to selling his house to a new owner, and it's exactly the nightmare you've been going through. Sent the death certificate twice, have had WIFI turned off for weeks on end, and been promised I'd hear back in 72 hours, etc. It's with the "escalation team," but there's no way to reach them by phone. Were you able to get your issue resolved and, if so, how? If you haven't been able to get it resolved, what are you going to do? I had a hard time liquidating and closing an overseas bank account for my dad, but that was a bank account, not a stupid doorbell. And I did get that one resolved, whereas this one ... who knows?

Hi @user_e0ae9c. My condolences for your loss, and I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with transferring device ownership. Unfortunately, we cannot access account details on the Ring Community. I would recommend sending a private message @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram to get in touch with our social support team. They should be able to check on the status of this request and let you know what you need to do next.
