Bought a refurbished doorbell device from Amazon. Need to transfer ownership?
cs-support

I’ve just bought a refurbished ring doorbell off Amazon. It seems to be registered to somebody else and won’t let me set the device up because I don’t have ownership. The device working is contingent on the previous owner giving me ownership which can take 15 days.

I spoke to the AI bot who put me through to an advisor, Marie, from Ring customer service. She said that this was normal and that I need to request access, which I just don’t believe since it isn’t stated anywhere on the listing page. Is this really true? If so, I’ll have to buy a different device instead of wasting my time with trying to get another refurbished one which will require me to request access from a stranger.

Sorry for my tone but I’m quite miffed about this. thank you!

Hi @user_b43d19. Feel free to send us a private message on Facebook, Instagram or X @Ring so we can look into this with you. Buying a refurbished device should not have an owner attached to the device.
