Hello @coerrace , Ah, those are good questions. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 has been discontinued for sale by Ring in the US, but can still be found in other stores, and Ring still maintains the warranties and provides support help for it. Many of us "Ring Neighbors", including myself, continue to enjoy our Ring Video Doorbell 2 (not to be confused with the Ring Video Doorbell "2nd Generation/2020 Release" which is a totally different new doorbell model). I'll answer your questions in the order you asked them: - _"It damages or can cause problems if I install the battery and wired at same time? Actually I have like that and everything works perfect."_ No, you will not damage nor cause problems with the battery and wired at the same time. **As a matter of fact, that IS the correct way to set up your new Video Doorbell 2!** The Ring Video Doorbell will NOT WORK without the battery! It is actually a battery-powered device and cannot operate without the battery. The old pre-existing house doorbell wires only provide a "trickle-charge" to your "Quick-Release-Battery-Pack" (QRBP) and these wires cannot power the doorbell alone. - _"The old wired installation can charge the factory battery for the ring bell 2?"_ Yes, the pre-existing house-bell wiring will "trickle-charge" the QRBP as long as the house-bell transformer is between 8 to 24 Volts AC and rated at 40 Volt-Amp (watts) maximum. On your smartphone Ring App you can monitor the battery charge on the Device Health page. You will noticed that during heavy usage (frequent Motion-activations or "Live Views", etc.) that the battery level might decrease. But then when the usage work-load decreases, the "trickle-charge" will slowly recharge the battery back up, so you may never need to remove it to charge it up with the USB cable. - _"With just having the wired connection is enough to supply the ring video doorbell 2? In other words can I remove the battery?"_ No, the wired connection provides a small trickle-charge and the doorbell is not designed to operate without the QRBP. The wired connection will also make your house-bell wall-mounted chime sound "Ding-Dong" just like your old doorbell button did. You can remove the QRBP, if you feel you do need to recharge it back up with the USB cable, but your Video Doorbell 2 will be non-operational during the time the battery is out. - _"And to select wired if I need to use only wired, there are jumpers or any configuration to select only wired or is automatically detected just wiring and done?"_ Can't use only wired. The "trickle-charge" is insufficient to run the Video Doorbell 2 without the battery (and it is not designed that way either). Too many Two 2 too! LOL :) The newer "2nd Generation/2020 Release" does NOT use the Diode because it has an additional Ring App setting available for the house chime (None, Mechanical, or Digital). This model arrives with the "None" setting as a default, because Ring has no idea whether you have a pre-existing Mechanical or Digital house chime. So therefore, this setting has to be selected/changed in the Ring App, or else the house chime will remain silent. I'm just mentioning this here in case other people read this post and wonder if they need a diode for their "2nd Generation/2020 Release" and I don't want to cause confusion. With your Video Doorbell 2 properly setup and connected to the house pre-existing wires, your should see "Power Source - Hardwired" and Battery charge status level on the "Device Health" page. Also, on the other Device page, you should see a green "Battery Icon" (upper-right-corner) with a "Lightening Bolt" in the center of this icon, indicating that your QRBP is indeed getting the "trickle-charge." If you don't see these indications with the wires connected, you are still only operating on the QRBP alone, and you should press and hold the black Reset Button for 20-seconds and then release (this will start a hard Factory Reset and be automatically restart the entire setup procedures for you to get the wired option). Your Reset Button is on the front side of your doorbell underneath the removable front cover, upper-right-corner. Oh what a wonderful answer. Totally clear and perfect. I just don't see the lightbolt but I see the hardwired message and yesterday the doorbell it was at 93% battery and today is at 100%. Then I suppose is charging now. Are increasing the levels of battery. Thank you for all the information. Have a nice day!
