Two failed Ring Pro/Plus Doorbells
Had a Ring Doorbell Pro for a couple years. The Wi-Fi chip burned out and after having to go through the setup process with Ring support (after I had already performed several times), I purchased a refurbished replacement unit. Setup that unit just fine. But after a week it failed as well in the same manner Called support back and again had to attempt the setup process with them which I knew wouldn’t work. I was told I would have to talk to senior technical people but they were not available at that time. Checked the doorbell voltage and it was a steady 19 VAC. As an engineer myself I knew the Wi-Fi chip had failed in this unit and I would have to purchase yet another doorbell. . Very frustrating. Decided not to continue with Ring products. Very happy I made the switch to a different manufacturer. No monthly charge to record and the unit also controls my mechanical doorbell with no extra receiver needed. I think there is a design issue with the Pro/Plus Ring doorbell network chip that deserves some attention. Many people seem to experience this failure.
