You can find more information on device ownership in our Help Center Article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038010351-I-Would-Like-to-Take-Over-Change-Ownership-of-Ring-Devices). If you try to set the Doorbells up in your Ring App by following the steps under Set Up a Device, and you get a message that it's already registered to another account, the original owners will need to remove it from their account. If you have no way to contact the previous owner, our support team will contact them on your behalf via email. [Make sure you have the latest version of the Ring app to see if you can initiate the device transfer in the app.](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/204384784-Downloading-and-Updating-the-Ring-App) When you go through the setup process in the Ring App, follow the prompts to [request ownership](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025997592-Ring-Doorbell-and-Security-Camera-Moving-Guidelines-).
