For some time now there is so much condensation on the camera (not sure if inside or outside case) that any video occuring early in the day is useless. Is there a way to eliminate the condensation? This doorbell is installed at a vacation rental house so it is not practical to wipe the unit down every morning.

Hi all. I just thought I’d let you know that I’ve had a very similar issue to what most people have (see first set of photos) but I may have solved my problem! After 4 days of really warm and cold variance in weather conditions (between 4-12 degrees in one day), I haven’t needed to wipe the lens off to get visibility. It isn’t 100% perfect (see last photo where left and right corners look like they have a ‘droplet’ of water on them) but more than usable state! I used the product I have been using for my car (for about 5 years now!) called Aquanil by a company called Croftgate USA (there’s a UK distributor as well, Google them). It’s similar to the Waterless Car Wash products but it’s the beat one I’ve used and I’ve tested the other makes, both cheaper and more expensive ones. I use it for beading the condensation we get on our cars here every morning during the Fall/Winter/Spring colder seasons and works extremely well. It doesn’t just clean it, it leaves a microscopic layer of protection, hence you don’t get water staying on the surface. I thought I won’t be able to change the weather conditions but at least, I can lower the surface energy on the surface by adding a layer on top. I improved it even further by using the ceramic coating they have. I think it’s called Endure XXL., please look into their website for the correct details. Ring doorbells are great products and technical phone support was actually very good, which was a pleasant experience for a new Ring customer. This Croftgate Aquanil and the ceramic coating seems to have solved this issue for me. I have just purchased a Ring 2. Now it's getting cold at night and I too have condensation on the lens. I was thinking about using RainX but was not sure if it would affect the plastic cover of the lens, so I ' lightly ' applied it anyway this morning. Will find out tomorrow morning if it worked or if I need to apply it again.

I did ring customer services and the agent said to me that I could put a piece of wood or something over it to cover. If that's their solution they obviously not working on a solution of condensation when it gets cold and damp. Love to see their R+D department. Customers are paying alot of money for the product and then there's the yearly subscription on top.

This is it we was away and just made out as it was misted over at 7.45 am which looked like two people with ladders getting over the fence at the front into our back garden. Not nice. They should find a solution as they are not fit for perpuse in cold weather. They told me just to search on amazon for a anti fog product we shouldn't be doing this . How much money would you have to spend just to find that none of them work I'm so mad.

Disappointing , first night of use and I can’t see a thing due to it misting over. Will try some washing up liquid on it tomorrow.

I tried it but if it gets frosty and below zero degrees, the washing up liquid doesn't work

Hi everyone, just to add to this thread. I also have a ring doorbell and we are located in the Cambridgeshire area and are also having an issue with the doorbell steaming up/fogging over. While I understand the science of condensation what I don't understand is how such an expensive device has not accounted for it. Perhaps the battery design is a flaw and as per the Google Nest Hello it should be mains wired as well. I will be taking my Ring Pro down this weekend and installing the Nest Hello to see if that is any better. I will have to look into the warranty situation regarding my Nest Doorbell because it dont feel it is fit for purpose.

Hi mine is wired and still have the same problem. My sons is battery still the same like yours anti fog doesn't work fairly liquid doesn't work. Looking at threads this has been going on for years they have not resolved the problem. They are selling a product which they do not say doesn't work with the te put Ute dropping. Let me know how the nest on works please

I read through this whole thread and havnt seen anyone use anti-fog film. Like what can be used in dive goggles, motorcycle helmet visors, or on Vehicle mirros and stuff. Im going to get some, and see how it works. Ill let you all know.

Im not talkig about a liquid, I mean a film like an adhesive screen protector. There are anti-fog films that you can stick onto your car mirrors and whatnot that keeps them from freezing and fogging. I just ordered some for $5 from amazon, so Ill post pictures in a couple days if it works. I have used stuff like that inside motorcycle helmets and they work pretty good.
