Ring App updated... now no sensing cars or other motion... but will sense people
I have an iPhone8 using IOS 16. After updating my Ring App to the newest version (2 days ago)... it now says I need Apple IOS 17... but it will still down load the older version of the Ring App to be able to use it.
Since then..... My Ringo doorbell camera (hardwired PRO 2) will only detect a person at the door. ALL Smart Motion is turned off. It will not detect cars driving by... as it used to do before and alert me.
Is there something in the updated Ring app that will only let it detect ALL MOTION... if it is using IOS17.... and not the previous version of the Ring App?

Providing an Update to my post. This afternoon my daughter stopped by, so I asked her..... What version of iPhone did she have and what IOS does she currently have on her phone.
She has an iPhone 13 and is currently using IOS 17, but she could update it to IOS 18.
(She said she doesn't want to update to 18... because she feels that Apple is trying to mess with the iPhone 13 models to get people to trade them in.... as the Model 13 is the last Physical SIM Card and not eSIM)
I regress.... back to my story. She has a Ring Doorbell at their house.... so she has the current RING APP on her phone.
So she Logged Off of their account and Signed In to My account and Ring Doorbell.
We ran some tests on my Ring Door bell. I left my house in my car... and drove by my house slowly... four times.
Not once did the Ring App give her a notification of a Vehicle passing by or record me driving by.
Also.... the Doorbell will only notify and record people that is within 25 feet of the doorbell. I have a sidewalk in front of my house that is 40 feet away. I walked back and forth on that sidewalk.... four times and the ring Doorbell did not pick me up at all.
When you go to LIVE view.... you can see everything moving in front of it.
It has clearly lost is SENSING power past 25 feet.
And.... for all that say... Try rebooting, Try Factory Reset, Check your Motion Sensitivity, and everything else in the man in the moon... I HAVE DONE IT!!!!
The Doorbell has lost it's Sensitivity and I am going to call Customer Service back tomorrow, (I called them yesterday and jumped through all their Hoops, and since it detected me within 25 feet of the doorbell...they said it was working fine. I asked.... well what about vehicles.... they said give it a week and call them back..... she said she noted my issue in my account). So I will call them back tomorrow and start the Warranty Process. I bought this thing directly from RING on 12/25/2024. So it's still under the One Year Limited Warranty.
Also.... the Ring Doorbell and App was working perfectly up until 11/10/2025. So this is an issued that just started.
I thought maybe it might have been Rings Servers or their System. I had issues with it a couple of months ago... that finally cleared up on it's own and I attributed it to their Network because at the time... they was a National Network Hack that had taken place all over the country.
So..... please wish me luck for tomorrow.

Hi @user_da45ba. As you can see in this Help Center article here, the minimum iOS requirement is iOS 17. If you do not have this, you will have decreased functionality.
