Our Doorbell Pro faces front yard and is in the middle of a 34' long porch. I have the zone set to not detect peopl on the sidewalk, but will detect front yard and driveway. We put out our flag, and when it waves the doorbell senses it. The flag is about 8' in front of the doorbell Pro. Your one post says the People Only mode looks for heat sense (_HEAT SIGNATURES The reason your device is looking for heat signature movement is to try and lessen the number of false motion alerts you receive. If it alerted you to all movement in front of your door (e.g. your neighbor's flag) you would likely get sick of those constant false alerts. Your sensors are specifically l...)_ Why is my flag being picked up?

Hi neighbors, motion detection issues can typically be resolved by adjusting your settings. Since everyone's home and environment will differ, it may take some trial and error to find the combination of settings that works best for you. We have an overview of all the motion settings here. It's also important to consider what is in your doorbell's view. If there is a flag in the view, always waving, this can contribute to unwanted motion alerts. I am having the same issue and it drives me crazy. I have all the settings to the recommended ones, but rarely do I get a picture of the delivery person or someone at my door, just a picture of the package about 3 hours later. But I get notifications constantly of the flag waving or cars passing by even though I have it set to detect people only.

I have a battery ring and it sends constant alerts in People Only mode and the only thing there is my flag.

@Marley_Ring - I have a Solar Stick Up cam and it is doing the same thing! Person Detected alerts up the yingyang EVERY time our flag is out for Memorial Day-Independence Day, again for Veterans' Day. I would think in this age of AI/Machine Learning, Ring could teach the cams not to interpret waving flags as people.

Battery ring doorbell, People Only mode, no shiny lights just flag waving - triggering average of 20 "Person detected" alerts every day. I'm happy to provide a video to help train your AI/ML algorithms on what is and is not a Person.

I was having the same issue but I just adjusted my zones to not include my flag. Worked like a charm.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’ve tried every setting and no luck. My front door is about 20 feet from the sidewalk (very active). My 3x5 flag is to the right of my steps, but in view of the camera. I have zones, but it’s not possible to cut out the flag without cutting out the sidewalk or the areas that I need/want security.  I’ve used both people only and everything. I’ve used voice notification. The AI never says it’s a flag but can recognize the neighbors outdoor cat. I rarely get delivery drivers (how I know my sensitivity is already too low), but will get package notifications hours later. Which leaves the package vulnerable and unprotected. Ring has to do better. This should seem so easy to fix. Plus they should have a setting that there’s a public sidewalk close so it looks for gate activity or someone entering the yard. Why is this so hard. Happy to volunteer my video feed for analysis and AI training.
