I found it surprisingly difficult to understand the differences between the Ring doorbell models, especially the wired and battery versions.
One thing that was particularly confusing is that the Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) has two connectors on the back, but the documentation doesn't clearly explain how they work. I understand that existing doorbell wiring can be used with a traditional chime and can provide a trickle charge to the battery, but it's never made clear whether the wiring can act as the sole power source or if the battery is always required. The product descriptions and technical specifications should explain this much more clearly.
I typically rely on the technical specifications as the authoritative source when comparing products. However, the specs for the Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) list a "Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack." Based on that description, I expected a newer battery design. After receiving the product, I discovered it's actually the standard battery pack with a micro-USB charging port.
Using micro-USB on a newly released product is disappointing, especially now that USB-C has become the industry standard. I expected the latest generation to use USB-C.

Another concern is charging. The battery becomes very hot while charging, and after more than six hours it is still charging. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior, but it doesn't inspire confidence in the charging experience.
Overall, I think Ring could improve the product documentation by making the differences between models much clearer and ensuring the technical specifications accurately set customer expectations.
