I’m sure I posted re this before but can’t see it now. It re the doorbell battery life changes when power/hardwired or not.

Firstly the battery percentage left more times than not changes when switching between battery and powered mode why?

Secondly now hardwired the ‘battery’ life appears to drop quicker than when not powered. Again why?

I see reports it may be down to the white light on front being permanently on in powered mode but off in battery. Can a feature request be down to alter this or at least have it optional. As it stands I’ve not seen my powered battery life increase at all. With fairly low usage.something must be draining battery in powered mode and this light seems most likely cause.

Plus now when looking at live view I see a swarm of flies/moths buzzing around attracted by the light! It needs option to turn it off!

Hi @user_5f6ccd. What specific doorbell model are we talking about? Is this hardwired into a transformer/chime kit, or a Plug-In Adapter? The solid white light indicates that the device is hardwired, and cannot be turned off. This is very low power and not enough to drain the battery. How many events is your device recording in a 24 hour period?

Tom couldn’t see a reply option to your msg so putting here. I’m using a gen 2 doorbell with a plug in ring adaptor. The main issue I guess is a have no confidence in the battery level reported. It currently seems to jump from 100% to 69%, then for a while was at 81%.  Now it seem to back at the 69% level as for most of last week or so. I would class events as low, 0 to 3, with maybe the odd live view check. But in all cases I dont see any immediate drop in battery even if doing a lot of checks. As said also don’t see any rise if no events over a night or day or so. Would be interesting to know if others see same. Surely a power adaptor must be able to charge the doorbell upwards if has low usage?

I’ve not seen any stats anywhere to say how quickly a power adaptor should charge a doorbell or how many events would be needed to gradually degrade the battery level.

Hi @user_5f6ccd. Thank you for that information. That is a little amount of events, so that shouldn't be the issue. Harsh weather conditions can affect the battery and how it trickles charges as well. How cold does it get in your area?

In Southern UK it hasn't been too cold recently, though set for some minus figures overnight the next week or so. P.s. now currently back saying 82% when hardwired,

P.s. how much should we expect it to trickle charge up in a day if no triggering events?

@user_5f6ccd. If it's not related to cold weather, then I recommend reaching out to our support team to further investigate this with you. They will be able to take a deeper look into this than we can here in the Community. As for your question about how much you should expect it to trickle charge, I cannot provide an actual estimate since there are various factors that can affect how much it will charge.

Hi, was only looking for a rough estimate. Currently I don’t see it rise at all. Would be good to know if it should be possible to rise even 1% a day if no activity.
