How To Delete A Deactivated Device
troubleshooting

I've seen this answered on this sub, and Ring even sent an email stating how to do it. But their own instructions do not mirror what I'm seeing in real life. I've included their instructions below and a screenshot of my own experience, where I'm not seeing the red circle that has been instructed to select. Does anyone have any solutions here?------------------Manually remove your device sooner. If you finished downloading your videos and no longer need to access your device, you can remove it now.Open the Ring App, tap ☰, and choose Devices.Select the deactivated device you wish to remove.Tap the Deactivated Device icon in the lower right corner of the device image. (I DO NOT HAVE THIS ICON)Select Remove This Device.

Hi @user_e2fd7f. To remove a deactivated device from your account, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Ring app

    2. On the Dashboard, you should see the preview tile for the deactivated device.

Within that preview tile, tap on the triangle with an exclamation point.

    3. Tap on the message that appears stating, "This device is deactivated."

    4. Tap on Remove this Device and select Continue.

    5. Select an option for removing it

This should remove the device. Can you share the link where you found the directions you mentioned did not work for you?

I got the same instructions in an email titled "Your Video Doorbell has been deactivated" when I deactivated my broken doorbell today (19th Sept 2025): Manually remove your device sooner. If you finished downloading your videos and no longer need to access your device, you can remove it now. 1. Open the Ring App, tap ☰, and choose Devices. 2. Select the deactivated device you wish to remove. 3. Tap the Deactivated Device icon (⊘) in the lower right corner of the device image. 4. Select Remove This Device. Any Ring Protect plan associated with this device will stay active unless you cancel it. I can confirm that the "Deactivated Device icon (⊘)" icon described does not exist in the iOS app 5.89.0 (iOS 18.6.2 iPhone 13). The instructions from Justin_Ring do work though.
