Live View Not working in Safari Desktop

I have noticed that 'Live View' on Mac desktop Safari is no longer working as of a day ago 30th/31st March 2026.

When you go to live view you just get the black screen and spinning disc with 'Activating Live View' indefinitely. Other browsers and older safari and IOS work however, seems to be linked to Safari desktop. All fixes such as cache clearing etc do not help.

Sequoia OS 15.7.5

Safari Version 26.4

Any ideas?

Hi @user_144f32. Do you have any browser extensions installed on the Safari Browser, or any VPNs running? Have you tried a fresh installation of Safari, with the appropriate browser permissions enabled?

      Hello Caitlyn

No VPNs running, you cant fresh install Safari as it is bundled within the OS. I have checked permissions for:

      Full Disk Access

      Microphone

Screen Sharing (should not be necessary)

Camera (again, should not be necessary)

Still not able to use live view in Safari, see attached video....

      Hello Caitlyn

I have decided to just re-install my OS in safe mode and it appears to have solved the problem in Safari, I assume there was a corrupt file generated when safari updated sometime on the 30/31st March. A re-install of the OS re-installed a fresh Safari so now my Live View is working as usual in the Safari Browser.

Thank you for your help, it is appreciated.

      Kind Regards

I had the same problem of my Ring Live View not working after upgrading Safari a few days ago. I followed your idea and rebooted to recovery mode to reinstall Sequoia and it now works again thanks!

Great to hear that, I've worked with Macs since the 90s and that is always a good way to solve odd software bugs that can pop up from time to time, Before I did that I just wanted to check with RING if there was bug within in its own software update around the same time Safari updated late March.

So reinstalling the OS give you a new copy of Safari and does a deep overwrite of any corrupted preference files that may linger after deleting manually in preferences. I've stayed on Sequoia with our Mac Studios as I do not like OS Tahoe at the moment, waiting for that to be improved.

Reinstalling the OS in Recovery Mode is always the best bet when you hit a brick wall when other fixes don't work for an odd software bug.

I am having the same problem with Safari on OSX Sequoia 15.7.5

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to reinstall my OS installation.

    Is there any other solution?

You don't have to wipe your drive first. If you boot to recovery mode then select to reinstall Sequoia, it will download and reinstall it over the top off the current installation. All your data and apps are preserved and don't need to be reinstalled. The whole process took about an hour to complete and the only difference is that it fixed the problem and everything else is the same as it was before.

    All,

I had the same problems anyway running a Mac studio using the latest version of sequoia. I opened in a recovery mode reinstalled the software and it was working, but then my software update said that there was a new version of Safari and I updated to it, and then the live view stopped working. I think there's a bug in the new version of Safari 26.4.. What reinforces this is my wife has a Apple laptop and I open ring on that and I could see the live view, but then I updated her computer to the newest version of Safari and it would not work....
