Considering Amazon owns Ring I would expect that eventually support will be made available. Though considering none of their stuff works locally it may be a while.

Can we have matter for legacy ring products and Thread for new battery products. Couldn’t thread be used to wake up a battery device so that it can then connect to WiFi thus saving battery?

I have been waiting years for Ring Cameras to have the HomeKit integration they promised. If they actually land Matter support I would be pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately they are too busy trying to lock you into their ecosystem to worry about such things. What they do not realize is that with this attitude they are just one step away from everyone switching to something that is compatible as soon as a decent alternative system exists. I do not mind paying ring a monthly fee for monitoring and camera backup but if they don't integrate I will switch as soon as possible.

Currently using homebridge to get them over to HomeKit. Give it another 6 months and I’ll be moving away all entirely! I’ve just learned over time that personally for me, they work great, but they have there flaws, I’d much prefer PoE cameras, that’s my next investment.

I don't care if the use z wave, they just need to make the alarm a hub that will onboard to Matter. Unfortunately they have not demonstrated any willingness to be interoperable.
