Configure Smart Alerts Behavior by Motion Zone

Feature request to allow Ring users to configure smart alerts by motion zone. Today, the custom motion zones allow you to specify where the camera should and should not detect motion. Would like the ability to configure one zone for recording and alerts, and a second zone for just recording. Use case: My camera is on my garage facing the street. I would like the camera to record anytime it detects somebody walking by on the sidewalk, or if they are in my driveway, but I do not want to be notified every time somebody walks by on the sidewalk. I would like to only be notified when someone is in my driveway. I can currently configure separate zones for these areas, but cannot configure alert/recording behavior separately for each zone.

This would be a very useful addition. I recently had a neighbor assaulted and robbed. I had a snap shot of the group walking by but no faces visible in that shot. I don’t want every notification of people taking their dog for a walk, so my motion zone ends at the sidewalk. It would have been nice to provide the police with a video.

The ability to set separate schedules for different motion zones on a single camera is a critical feature for truly personalized and effective home security. While the current system allows us to define specific areas of interest, it doesn't give us the granular control needed to manage alerts intelligently throughout the day. For instance, I need to be notified of activity around my parked car at all times to protect against potential theft or vandalism. However, I only want to receive alerts for the public sidewalk during off-peak hours—late at night or early in the morning—to know if someone is lingering. During the day, the constant traffic of pedestrians would create an overwhelming number of irrelevant notifications, making the system more of a nuisance than a safeguard. By allowing users to set different schedules for each motion zone, Ring would empower us to: * Reduce "alert fatigue": Filter out the constant, predictable motion that occurs during the day. * Enhance security: Ensure that critical zones are always monitored, especially when we're most vulnerable. * Improve battery life: For battery-powered cameras, this feature would be a game-changer, as it would reduce unnecessary recordings and alerts in high-traffic areas during times when we don't need them. This feature isn't just a convenience; it's an essential upgrade that would make the Ring ecosystem smarter, more efficient, and far more useful for a wider range of customers.
