We'd like to provide some clarification around Community Requests in the US. Last year we announced that Ring has partnered with Axon to bring Community Requests to Ring Neighbors in line with our mission of making neighborhoods safer, and in early October, we shared that we're expanding Community Requests to work with additional trusted public safety agencies using Flock Safety’s Nova platform or FlockOS.
Community Requests is a privacy-protected service that enables local public safety agencies to make public requests for assistance through certified tools they use. Federal Agencies (including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) cannot make requests for videos through Community Requests. This feature is designed for local public safety agencies only. No videos are shared with local public safety agencies through Community Request unless a customer chooses to do so. These requests appear on the Neighbors feed.
Participation is completely optional and voluntary, and public safety agencies cannot see who received notifications or who chose not to respond. Videos are only shared if you, the customer, choose to share them. If a customer prefers not to see these posts in their Neighbors Feed, they can opt out while still receiving other neighborhood updates.
