Intermittent motion detection
I recently had to replace my ring doorbell as the old item broke. Brand new doorbell from amazon as they refunded the old one (even though technically it was a warranty claim). The new doorbell is intermittent with motion detection and wondered what im missing.
The doorbell covers a drive way and separate path / garden. Before we had no trouble in it detecting vehicles and people in the drive or garden but now it seems delayed if it detects at all.
The settings are the same and its the same location - sensitivity is maximised and smart alerts enabled, also same motion detection areas (or similar).
The new doorbell is sometimes delayed at detecting people or sometimes doesn't detect at all. By delayed i mean if I stand in front of it for 20 seconds the doorbell wakes up and records, but otherwise doesn't (and won't detect a vehicle). Added issue is i want to cut out the walkway at the end of the drive.
Any ideas on how to improve?

Rssi is 64, will try the new motion zones thanks. There are a couple of steps plus the path is higher at the door than the pavement. I will try to lower this.

UOkay so there has been a partial improvement since I adjusted the zones. It will now pick up other motion, ie a cat, in the drive / garden, but won't pick up a person thats bigger. Is there something wrong with the doorbell if its simply not picking up people but up animals? I have also tried turning other motion off (not yet adjusted the height but surely that won't be a factor?)

THi @user_fe2a8b. I'm glad you've noticed some improvement. The height can be a factor. How high is the doorbell mounted? Sometimes, it's a bit of trial and error with your Motion Settings until you've got things fine tuned.

Hi @user_fe2a8b. I have a few suggestions. First, try and make your Motion Zones more "square" or "rectangular". Next, try not to let the zones overlap. I'll share a picture below of what I'm explaining. Also, how high is this doorbell mounted? Are there a few steps leading up to it? Lastly, what is the RSSI for this device? Thank you for this information.
