I get emails from Ring telling me to take action on my soon to end free trial of the Ring Protection Plan.  I want to know HOW MUCH MORE WILL MY SUBSCRIPTION COST if I upgrade?  The chat option and call option are useless, no actual humans are available.

So, the app is non-functional now if you don't subscribe?

If I forgot to set my alarm when I left my house, I could easily set it from the app. Not now! Someone decided to change the app to disable that feature if you don't have a subscription. Great idea and a lovely way to show how much Ring appreciates its customers. I'm on my 3rd, and now last unit
